The J.F. Hicks Library provides information resources and services that support the students, faculty, staff, and administration of Virginia Intermont College and advances the mission of the institution.
The J.F. Hicks Library is a member of the Appalachian College Association and participants in the ACA shared catalog.
Forty databases are available through consortia agreements with the ACA and the Virtual Library of Virginia (VIVA).
A workstation in the library is available exclusively for searching the library catalog and databases. Library staff members are ready to assist you with your searches.
Six iMac computers are located in the reference room for student use. They offer internet access and Microsoft Office applications. Printing is available for five cents per page.
Dr. John Franklin Hicks (1827-1920) was a physician in Bristol, Virginia and was a member of the first board of trustees of the college. The current library building was built in 1941 and named in his honor.
